Sunshine and dirt piles

The sunshine has helped build dirt piles in the ER construction area. If you drive by on Burma Avenue you will see significant changes in the outside appearance of the ER. Portions of the walls have been removed to prepare for the outside structure to begin taking shape.

The ER nurses and staff have slowly adjusted to the changes inside the ER. Movement of supply carts and lockers is now expected and become a a little joke - "Where's my locker today? On another floor?" is a common question when a nurse has been off for a couple days.

Remember - use the Walk-in Clinic for minor injuries and illness. They are open Thurs-Mon from 1-9 p.m.

ER remodel is ER-nder way!

The ER remodel is really beginning to move. For those of you that have been in the ER and treated in the suture room or the trauma room - these are nolonger in the same locations! The trauma room (pictured to the left of the nurse station, and enclosed by drywall) has been moved to the suture room, the suture room - where many of us with kids or as kids probably have been has been moved to an end curtain space in the treatment area. These locations will shift again once phases are achieved.

From a patient perspective - you won't even know rooms have changed all necessary equipment is readily available and care will be seamless. From an employee perspective - the lockers have moved so that has caused some confusion but nothing that can't be dealt with and easily communicated.

Kitchen is finished!

The serving area in the cafeteria has been finished for several days now. And to answer the comment posted about the ice - yes, the new ice/water machine does have the crushed/pelt ice that is available on each unit. The soda dispenser still uses the cubed ice - so take your pick! I agree the pelted/crushed ice is yummy.

Now that the kithcen area is done - the ER is really beginning to take shape.

Kitchen Serving area move-in day is coming

The final details are being completed today in the kithcen serving area. Hospital Environmental Services are expected to clean the area today and Nutrition Services expects to stock the new area tommorrow the final moving details will happen on Wednesday evening and the very excited staff will begin serving out of the new area on Thursday morning! Check out the new ice/water dispenser that will be accessible even when the kitchen is closed.

The ER remodel is still undergoing the prep work. Remember to access the Walk-in Clinic for sniffs, snivels, coughs and minor injury - this will help alleviate the back-up in the reduced waiting area space. A portion of the ER waiting area has been consumed by temporary walls.
