Cooler day

Concrete is still being poured, but as we head into the weekend we are getting some cooler weather. They look to finish the sidewalk next week.

I took some time and snook a peek inside the new ER and this is what I saw.

The new inside is coming around nicely. I can begin to imagine the hustle and bustle of the ER as we expand into our new space. EXCITING!!

Updates

Here is what is in store for the start of this week:

Fire proofing the structural steel will begin today.

Exterior finish of the new structure to start today.

Will finish placing new sidewalk around the new structure today.

Will begin demolition of existing sidewalk adjacent to OSTS.

It will be very busy at the ER entrance and parking will be limited to the far south end and the west side of the ER parking lot.

The entrance will be routed through the north side of the existing entrance. We need to have people park elsewhere if at all possible for the next two weeks. The asphalt is scheduled to be placed on the 26th and 27th. After that time there should be only one more interruption of the ER entry.

Rain, Rain, Rain

Well things have had to slow down a bit here over the past couple of days due to the weather. With a rain storms that have passed over the area, concrete has not been able to be poured. So construction has moved to the vestibule which is getting a new ceiling.

Again please use the main entrance to the hospital unless it is an emergancy. Thank you for your cooperation.

Check back Monday for more updates.

Steam fried sidewalks

Today they are pouring the concrete on north side of ER for the new steam heated sidewalks. Which I must say are cool in and of themselves. For the past two days workers coiled red tubing around the frame of the new sidewalk. This tubing will be steam heated during the winter to prevent ice buildup. This will be a nice safety feature for patients and staff that use this entrance during the lovely Wyoming winters.

The ER entrance is still cut down to about a third of its original size and now the ER waiting room is almost non-existant, but we are getting by, and we continue to ask for your understand during this time.

Stay off the sidewalk!

Fresh concrete was poured last week for the sidewalks in front of the ER. These sidewalks will be heated for winter snowmelt, which fortunately is a long way off. Be prepared for lots of work going on inside the ER waiting room this week. The waiting room will be partially closed off beginning today to install fireproofing. The seating area will be very limited, so your patience is appreciated. Expect more concrete to be poured on the south and west side of the ER addition to begin today.

Watch out for the sidewalk!

Work on the exterior of the ER expansion project will have more impact on patients and visitors beginning August 11. Crews are expected to begin demolishing the current sidewalk by the ER entrance Monday, August 11. In addition, the ER entrance and waiting area will become significantly smaller, as the space is fireproofed. Please assist visitors and patients with these changes, and assure them that the result will be a much-improved Emergency Department. Remember—employee parking is not allowed at any time in the ER parking lot.

Daily Work

Today they are pouring the curb and gutter on the south side of the ER entrance. Aside from the concrete they are working on walls on the inside and working on the roof addition.

The ER entrance is small compared to normal but it is manageable for all. Please continue to bear with us as we move towards making the ER bigger and better for all.
