The serving area is so close to done we can smell it...

The serving area in the cafeteria is darn near complete. The signs are hung, the fixtures are in, the cosmetic things are complete. We are now waiting for a final inspection from the City - it is planned for early next week.

The ER remodel is moving along well. Not anything new to tell you about.

ER Construction = Increased Customer Service

The ER remodel has now taken shape inside. The waiting area has been reduced by about 3 feet due to the firewall installation. Because of the construction and as an ongoing quality/patient satisfaction goal for CCMH, ER admitting clerks will now provide updates to waiting patients and family. As a patient, please don't hesitate to ask a clerk what to expect.

The kitchen remoded didn't make the 30-day deadline, however, they are not too far off! The wood trim will be stained on Friday evening, the decorative windows will be installed upon completion of staining, and clean-up has begun. The expected opening hasn't been confirmed but it should be soon!

Kitchen remodel won't hit deadline

As you are aware - today is DONE "D" day for the kitchen remodel, one month ago today the contractor began the 30-day kitchen remodel. Needless to say, the kitchen isn't finished - at not fault to anyone, things have just taken longer than expected. That construction in Gillette! Minor things like waiting on the reciept of ceiling tiles and final detail work is what is taking longer expected. New equipment is here and just needs cleaned and installed.

The ER remodel is definately happening - the firewall is sheetrocked. the temporary insulated wall will be installed in the waiting room today.

Tuesday, May 27, 2008

The kitchen remodel is almost ready to be unveiled. The new serving area will be wonderul! This photo to the left shows where the beverages and a'la carte items will be, this way customers can bypass the hot line if they wish.

The excavated outside area of ER is still under water, thanks to all the moisture over the holiday weekend. But the inside firewall will be insulated and sheetrocked today.

Have a safe holiday weekend

The rain hasn’t deterred too much construction – the ER remodel is well underway. A one hour fire-wall has been framed-in in the ambulance bay. This wall will serve as a barrier to protect the existing structure and people from dust and fire hazards due to construction.

The kitchen area is really taking shape, most of the storage areas are complete, the flooring is done and most of the countertops/hard surfaces are installed. This project was projected to be a one-month project and it appears they will hit that target date.

Please be aware - the main lobby outpatient registration desks will be closed on Monday May 26th for the Memorial Day holiday. All patients needing to register should go to the ER.

Rain, rain go away...

ER
As you can guess - the rain is pooling in the exterior demolition area of the ER remodel. Pumps have been installed to remove the water and in the meantime the contractor has moved inside to install a temporary double door from the ER bay/garage to the ER treatment area. They will also begin framing a dust/firewall in the garage area.

Kitchen
The most exciting thing in the kitchen is the new roll-up doors. If you remember - to close the kitchen area the staff would drag a chain link-like door across both entrances to the serving area. Closure of the serving area will now be more aesthetically pleasing with the roll-up doors. Corian countertops will be installed today and the tile floor will be grouted.

ER demolition has begun

The north end of the ER parking lot has been fenced off and the concrete is being removed. This means ER parking is a little tighter so please leave the ER parking lot for emergency room visits only.

The cafeteria serving area remodel is headed into it's final stages. New carpeting is being layed and the tile has been set. Those that visit the temporary serving area will get a sneak peak of what is to come - as the plastic barrier has been lifted so the flooring can be put down.

Temporary firewalls will divide the ER waiting area shortly afterwards. Employees and vendors are not allowed to park in the ER parking lot.
